Ethical Principles

Policy of accepting donations

The Ekopolis Foundation does not accept any financial nor non-financial support from companies or organizations if the cooperation might endanger our goodwillprogram or devalue integrity.

Any disputable cases are evaluated by members of the Ekopolis Foundation in joined discussion. In the case they do not come to an agreement, they ask the Board of Trustees for its statement. The Board of Trustees invites an external ethics expert to join the discussion.

Cooperation with organizations engaged in production or trade in the following areas is considered problematic:
  • weapons
  • tobacco
  • nuclear energy
  • genetic manipulations
  • gambling and pornography
as well as organizations breaking norms in nature conservations that ruin the environment churlishly and provably and do not attempt to eliminate the negative consequences of their activity.

Conflict of Interest Policy

1. Members of The Ekopolis Foundation's Board of Trustees, persons close to them as well as organizations, where they are employed or they have other similar relationship or where they are contracted to provide services, are not eligible to ask for a grant from the Ekopolis Foundation.

2. Members of the Advisory Boards and persons close to them as well as organizations where they are employed or have other similar relationships or where they are contracted to provide services, are not eligible to ask for a grant from the subprogram where they serve on the board. They are allowed to ask for a grant from another program.

3. Members of the Board of Trustees of the Ekopolis Foundation, employees of the Ekopolis Foundation are not allowed to financially or materially benefit from grants made in any phase of the project.

4. Employees of the Ekopolis Foundation, members of the Board of Trustees, members of the advisory boards and persons close to them who are:
 a) volunteers of other NGOs and at the same time
 b) do not have direct financial or material benefits from grants approved within the programs for these organizations are not in conflict with the interests of the NGO asking for a grant, however, they must inform the decision making forum and not take part in the decision making process.

5. The Board of Trustees reserves the right to consider individually any other case as a conflict of interests if it is presumed that the possible support of this applicant may indicate close even though informal connection between the board members and the supported organization or question the integrity of the foundation in the eyes of the public.
