The “Silence” movie awarded at Envirofilm 2008The film “Silence” was awarded a prize in the D category focused on free production for children and youth at Envirofilm 2008, the XIV. annual International Festival of films on the environment. Its production was supported by the Tatra Fund within the project ”Calamity as a Part of Forest Development ". The international jury praised the effective formulation of concerns about the future of the natural forests in the Tatra mountains using poetic and humourous expressions. The film was directed by Janka Sadloňová and Róbert Rajchel, students of the Art University since August 2008. The spots were recorded mostly in the Tatra National Park, but also in the Low Fatra, the Eastern Carpathians, the Slovak Rudohorie and several foreign countries - the Morava and Šumava regions in the Czech Republic, the Bavarian Forest in Germany and the Tatra National Park in Poland. The film documents the life of the forest in areas where the wood has been harvested and also in the areas that have been left untouched. It compares monocultures to the natural forests, explains the importance of trees for water retention, wood production and their influence on biotopes. |
