The Gemer Region will be greener

On Thursday, September, 10, there was completed the most important part of the project "Trees for today and tomorrow" in Šimonovce (Rimavska Sobota district).

The project includes the planting of greenery in the village. The playgrounds and sportgrounds area of the basic school and children´s garden were isolated from the built-up part of the village and municipality route with esthetic greenery.

The project was supported in the People for Trees Program with 1,760 Eur.

"We done many successfully projects, because our inhabitants are interested in the development of the village. There are many people, who help - the members of civic associations, local hunters and others (the Romanies, Hungarian and Slovak). In our village the people get on well with each other. Also thanks to common activities.", explained the mayor of the village Emil Madarasz.

Thanks to this good idea, active, helpful, and clever people 54 new trees were planted in the village - hazel trees, pine -trees, button trees and gingko trees.

People for Trees Program - the program supports the planting of trees, bushes, and horizontal and vertical greenery that increases the esthetic value of public spaces (e.g. buildings, fences, pillars, bridges, bus stops, etc.); activities for the rescue of precious trees, revival of public parks, greenery- planting around schools, public gardens etc. The program accents public participation - people living in the neighborhood should be involved in the project from its planning to consequential maintenance of the planned greenery.
