In Necpaly village planted out „safety islands“ for wild animalsThe Necpaly village obtained 1,850 eur for its project from People for Trees Program. The goal of the project is to create an barrier and a cache for wild animals on the free ground in the village. The grant program opened the Ekopolis Foundation with the partner Skanska, which supports this program for 4 years. The barriers for the animals are in 3 localities, which consist of 3.5 ha. The barriers were created through the planting of trees like: oak, red beech, horn-beem, white beem and ash trees. There are also spruce, birdcherry, plum tree, sallow. An expert from National Park Veľká Fatra was consulted for the choice of the trees. „We find the Necpaly village project very interesting because it is a project that doesn´t serve the people, but instead, focuses on increasing the quality of biosphere for wild animals", said Magdaléna Dobišová from Skanska Group. „It is evident, that the trees planting in the agricultural part of the country has its value from the point of view of the landscape. The barriers and alleys around field paths were in the past an inseparable part of rural landscape and from an expert aesthetic standpoint, they help to make the landscape stable", says Milan Hronec, program manager of Ekopolis Foundation.
