The Ekopolis Foundation at the Pohoda Open Air Festival

The Ekopolis Foundation introduced 12 finalists of the nationwide inquiry Tree of the Year 2008 and provided eco-taxi with its Trixi mobil tricycles at the Pohoda open air festival on June 18 – 19, 2008 in Trenčín.

On Friday, June 18, we launched the public voting for the Tree of the Year directly at the festival. Those who were interested could see an exhibition of the twelve trees at our stand or at the Metoo Stage. The introduction was moderated by Braňo Jobus, a famous singer of the alternative, prankster music groups Vrbovskí víťazi and Karpatské chrbáty. He, together with Peter Medveď, director of the Ekopolis Foundation and Magda Dobišová, external relations specialist of Skanska SK, drew ten people who were awarded small prizes for voting at the Ekopolis Foundation’s stand during the festival. The voting is open until October 3, 2008.

Twelve volunteers on four Trixi mobils – modern tricycles, provided transport service for the festival visitors every day since 10 a.m. till 9 p.m. The travellers could donate a financial gift for the Greenways program of the foundation. Trixi mobils as well as the Greenways program support development of motor-less transport in Slovakia.

We were pleased by the interest of the visitors who came by and asked about the foundation’s activities. We would like to thank to all of those who voted in the Tree of the Year 2008 inquiry or supported the ideas of the Greenways program with their gifts.
