A Relax Zone in the Monková Valley in the Tatras Opened

The Ždiar Tourism Association has placed informational boards and basic tourist infrastructure on the tourist trail from Ždiar crossing Monková valley to Kopské sedlo. The zone was opened on July 22, 2008. The project was supported with the amount of 110 Ths. SKK from the Living Trails grant program. The program has been launched by the Ekopolis Foundation in cooperation with Toyota Motor Slovakia.

Seven information boards, new wooden benches and tables were located on the 8 km long educational trail. Tourists can learn about geology, fauna and flora in each of the vegetation levels.

“Tourists will gain an overview of the unique environment of the Belianske Tatras, “ explained Blažena Sedláková from the Ždiar Tourism Association. The association has rented the trail from its owners – The Land Owners Association of Ždiar and Spišská Belá. Work began in early spring, and now there are even leaflets in English and German ready for foreign visitors.

The goal of the Living Trails grant program is to support the sensitive renewal of the Tatra Mountains and develop their recreational and educational potential. Five projects received grants in the total amount of 549 000 SKK in the first grant round of the program. The successful applicants have improved tourist trails, educational paths and public spaces for tourists.
