21 green belt – places for relax and education will spring up in Slovakia

Since March there have been starting the works at 21 projects, which have obtained the support from Green Belt Program. The program has been opened by Ekopolis Foundation in cooperation with SLOVNAFT, S.C.. By automn there will have grown new educational paths, renewed parks and public green areas, renewed localities of natural, historical, and cultural values in Slovakia. For realization of the projects there were provided 56,000 Euros.

Before deadline of 4th year of educational program Ekopolis Foundation obtained 316 projects. 109 most interesting projects proceeded to the 2nd round. Most of the projects were from primary and secondary schools, which try to improve the school areas, and the projects of municipality offices specialized to the municipal greenery revitalisation.

The goal of the program is to create, reconstruct or restore ecologically valuable localities or trails serving to the broad public and schools. Target areas are clearly demarked green localities and trails inside cities and villages or in their very close surrounding (public parks, rest zones and playgrounds,

schools parks, schools gardens, eco-areas and eco- classrooms, marshes and bio-corridors, trails for motor-less transport, educational trails focused on the environmental issues, etc.)
