Smile for TreeSmile for Tree is the name of a new program of Ekopolis Foundation, which was opened in April 2010 in partnership with SHP Harmanec Group. The objective of the program is to revive the public spaces through the planting of trees so that they will be greener and more beautiful. The renovation will be cooperated by the local government and volunteers from the community. This partnership is the best way to create good relationships between the community and its public spaces. The first pilot project, which was sponsored by „Smile for Tree" Program is the Lanice City park in Zvolen with a donation of 5,000 Euros. In the spring of 2010 the first activity included the care of 40 alm trees near rivers and paths.There were organized some activities for wider public. Pupils of basic schools cleaned the area and planted the trees near the rarest part of it - a small lake. There were also reconstructed the bridges and organized the activities in occasion of the Earth Day. In the first year there were chosen 6 projects, where it is expected the biggest and visible contribution for local community. There were chosen public spaces, which are searched by wider public. The total amount is 13,200 Euros being devided among 6 localities of Pruske (Ilava district), Modra (Pezinok district), Kezmarok, Levice, Liptovsky Mikulas, and Kremnica. |
