The 5th round of the Public Spaces Program opened

The Ekopolis Foundation opened the 5th grant round of the Public Spaces Program dedicated to the revitalization of public spaces trough the active participation of the citizens.

Informal groups of citizens and non-profit organizations can apply for the financial support. The applicants can gain not just the necessary finances up to 150 Ths. of SKK ( 4979 EUR) for a project but also useful technical support and counseling. The deadline for submitting the proposals is October 20, 2008. The ČSOB Financial Group is the partner of the grant program.

„Spaces revitalizing communities are the priority of the 5th year of the program. It means development of public spaces for interesting meetings, revitalizations of parks, riverbanks and small squares in order to serve for attractive cultural and sport events“ Martina Paulíková, the program manager, explained.

The program supports the involvement of people living in the neighborhood, surrounding blocks of flats or streets in the planning of the reconstruction of the public spaces. They assist in renovation itself and they come up with the idea of how the place should look, what kind of functions it should serve.

The counseling during the projects´ implementation will be provided by lectors from Partners for Democratic Change Slovakia (PDCS) Bratislava.
