Ekopolis Foundation at the NGO Market in Banská Bystrica

On September 18, 2008 citizens and visitors of Banská Bystrica could learn on the work of non-profit organizations operating in their region directly on the main square of the city. The Ekopolis Foundation introduced the Tree of the Year inquiry and the Trixi mobil project.

People walking by the stands could talk to the representatives of fifteen NGOs about their mission, activities and services for various target groups. Ekopolis Foundation participated in the event together with Healthy City Community Foundation, Children Hope Civic Association, Slovak Roma Cultural Association, Mamina Mother Centre and others.

At the Ekopolis Foundation’s stand people learned on the grant programs, open grant rounds and the ways of the financial support. They could vote for the Tree of the Year 2008 and see the exhibition of all 12 nominees too. Trixi Mobil – the modern ecological tricycle offered its services to all who wanted to enjoy a free ride in the downtown.

A cultural program prepared by the students of the Art School of J. Cikker in Banská Bystrica was a part of the event. The students’ performance was followed by show of the local music bands: “Atraktívne kamašle”, “Tučnolist” and “Schody”.

The NGO Market was organized by the Pontis Foundation from Bratislava in cooperation with the Healthy city Community Foundation from Banská Bystrica.
