The customers of Metro Slovakia company can vote for the project and support tree planting

The wholesale network Metro Company started up campaign last November, which supported the circularization of printed handbills through e - mails. From every registered customer, who will take the actual offer in e-mail form, Metro will contribute 1 euro for tree planting in towns and villages in Slovakia. In this project Metro will cooperate with Ekopolis Foundation in the People for Trees Program.

„We thank to all the customers who have registered. During the period of November and December 2009 we collected together 4,000 €, which will be dedicated for new tree planting and landscape renewal by means of grant program People for Trees," explained a communication manager of METRO Cash&Carry Slovakia Company Romana Nydrle.

The customers will decide about dividing of these sources.
On the web page http://www.metro.sk/ there is a space - Voting for grants - where the customers can choose the project, which they would like to support. The project, which will obtain the highest number of votes in its region will be financed by 1,000 €. Public voting will be finished on September, 20, 2010.

Chosen projects come from four regions of Slovakia.

„For financial support of METRO Company there will apply active people from different parts of Slovakia, from Kosice to Bratislava. All projects applying for support are connected by greenery care, but at the same time they have different character, either educational, sport, recreational or aesthetical one. We are curious about the public voting in each region,"

a program manager of Ekopolis Foundation Milan Hronec said.
