4th Call for Proposal of the Program „People for Trees" advertised the Ekopolis Foundation together with the partner Skanska group Slovakia. The support 2 600 EUR could be obtained by NGOs, schools, municipalities, towns and nonformal inhabitant´s groups.

This year will be one of the projects rewarded by  the „Price of the Skanska group of the best contribution for the local community".

Deadline of the projects is March 2nd, 2009.

In the 3th Call for Proposal were supported 33 projects in an amount 46 470 EUR, 6959 trees and bushes were planted out, 32 rare trees were treated in 33 localities in Slovakia.

„We are pleased, that the public is interested for the program and the quality of the projects is from year to year improving. We are connected with this program  since 2005 and this year we decided for the Price of the Skanska group of the best contribution for the local community. We will evaluate participation of the inhabitants, level of the community work and other activities, which the project initiated or has potential to initiate." explained Magda Dobišová, manager of the public relations, Skanska group.

The program supports the planting of trees, bushes, and horizontal and vertical greenery that increases the esthetic value of public spaces (e.g. buildings, fences, pillars, bridges, bus stops, etc.); activities for the rescue of precious trees, revival of public parks, greenery-planting around schools, public gardens etc. The program accents public participation - people living in the neighborhood should be involved in the project from its planning to consequential maintenance of the planned greenery.
