Ilustr_MMarencinContemporary life-style focused on consumption leads man to see nature merely as a sum of resources that’s value is derived just from their immediate utility. He tends to forget that he did not create this unique mechanism, that he is just a part of it. This perception of the world leads to social and regional disparities, racial, ethnic and religious conflicts, poverty, expansion of violence, corruption and devastation of the environment. The devastation results in loss of biodiversity, plundering of forests and rainforests, global climate change and increasing greenhouse effect, exhaustion of finite resources, and a deterioration of landscape, soils and water sources.

Fortunately, there are still many people around us who do not identify with this philosophy of social-economic progress and realize the limits and unsustainability of permanent economic progress in the world of limited resources. The Environmental Program of the Ekopolis Foundation strives to support individuals, groups and organizations, who are able to discover sustainable solutions and endeavor to apply them in everyday life.
