Block Grant EMVO-TUR

BG EMVO-TURSupport for Environmental Non-governmental Organisations
The Block Grant entitled "Toward Sustainable Development through Support of Environmental NGOs in Slovakia" supports projects of environmental non-governmental organisations (ENGO) at local, regional and national level with the aim to contribute to sustainable life and strengthening the civil society in Slovakia. It is financed of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism, Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the Budget of the Slovak Republic (www.eeagrants.org).
Our priority is supporting projects that increase participation of citizens at decision-making, propose and implement innovative solutions, as well as enhancing ENGO capacities for partnership with the public and private sector at solving urgent environmental and societal issues.

The aim of the Block Grant

Increasing the participation of ENGOs in addressing challenges related to the sustainable development in Slovakia.


Areas of support

  • Protection of the Environment:
- Decreasing the loss of biodiversity and preservation of natural biotopes
- Improvement of the air quality and decreasing of the greenhouse gases in Slovakia
- Improvement of the waste management at the municipal level
- Improvement and development of the infrastructure for water protection and water management
  • Sustainable Energy
  • Food Safety
  • Environmental Education 

Eligible applicants

Eligible are registered non-profit non-government organizations active in the environmental protection area, renewables and effective use of energy, food safety or environmental education. The eligible applicant must be active at least in one of these areas for a period of two years at minimum. The applicant's annual income in the last two years (2006 and 2007, or 2007 and 2008) must be 200,000 SKK or more.


How big can be a grant and co-financing

A grant required from the Ekopolis Foundation must be in a range from 20,000 EUR, i.e. 602,520 SKK at minimum to 100,000 EUR, i.e. 3,012,600 SKK at maximum.

A contribution from the Block Grant must be at most 90 % of the total eligible sub-project expenses. When submitting an application, the applicant must prove it has ensured resources for continuous co-financing of the sub-project in amount of at least 10 % of the total eligible sub-project expenses.


Support for applicants and end-recipients

The Ekopolis Foundation provides applicants also a technical assistance at preparation of grant proposals as well as on-going technical and financial consultations to supported organisations.
