Do you have an idea that could improve the environment in your city or village? Do you want to modify a park or other public space, take care of an ecologically valuable locality, remove an illegal dumping site, clean a river, adjust and mark an educational path or a trail for motor-less transport, improve a school garden, establish an open air classroom,…? Or do you have any other good ideas? In case you can carry them out with a help of volunteers, the Green Belt is the right program for you. 

Goal of the program

The goal of the program is to create, reconstruct or restore ecologically valuable localities or trails serving to the broad public and schools.

Target areas

Clearly demarked green localities and trails inside cities and villages or in their very close surrounding (public parks, rest zones and playgrounds, schools parks, schools gardens, eco-areas and eco-classrooms, marshes and bio-corridors, trails for motor-less transport, educational trails focused on the environmental issues, etc.)

The news of this year are the areas involved with flocks. The objective is a renovation of this areas.

Supported Activities

• Cleaning of public spaces and rivers
• Planting of new greenery and revitalization of the original one
• Maintenance of localities with valuable and protected plants and animals
• Maintenance of eco-areas and gardens
• Necessary adjustments of terrain
• Creation and renewal of small garden and park architecture objects at public spaces – bicycle-stands, benches, tables, shelters, info-boards, small art objects, different relax equipment, separated waste containers...

Eligible applicants

Nonprofit organizations, primary and high schools, municipalities and youth centers from the cities and villages in which a Slovnaft gas station is located.

Criteria

• The area must be completely finished at the end of the project
• The area must be clearly demarked and situated inside the city/village or in its very close surrounding
• Public ownership is necessary
• It is necessary to use ecologically acceptable methods, products and materials
• Local citizens have to be involved and majority of the work has to be accomplished with a help of  volunteers
• Applicant has to declare his own input (min. 20% from the total budget)
• Prepared and effective consequential long-term maintenance
• In case of planting, trees and bushes typical for the area are recommended
• Project can not be implemented directly at any gas station nor in its close surrounding
