People for Trees

Ilustr_LpSThe program supports the planting of trees, bushes, and horizontal and vertical greenery that increases the esthetic value of public spaces (e.g. buildings, fences, pillars, bridges, bus stops, etc.); activities for the rescue of precious trees, revival of public parks, greenery-planting around schools, public gardens etc. The program accents public participation - people living in the neighborhood should be involved in the project from its planning to consequential maintenance of the planned greenery.

Goal of the Program

The goal of the program is to draw people’s attention to and involve citizens in improvement of the environment  through greenery-planting.

People for Trees 2010

The wholesale network Metro started up a campaign, which supports the circularization of printed handbills through e - mails. From every registered customer, who will take the actual offer in e-mail form, Metro will contribute 1 euro for the planting of trees in towns and villages in Slovakia. In this project Metro will cooperate with Ekopolis Foundation.

Public voting

Instead of printing handbills, Metro will plant trees and the place will be decided by customers.

On the web page www.metro.sk is a part - Voting for grants, where the customers can choose the project, which they would like to support.

The project, which will obtain the highest number of votes in its region will be financed by 1,000 €.
