The base of the program is an idea that natural localities and recreational areas in the backround of towns are very important elements for the living

quality of inhabitants.

For the reconstruction of these places it is necessary to accept not only the proposals of the architects, but also aesthetical aspects of the elements, which will be used. Other aspects - like safety, accessibility for different groups of users, natural values protection, benchmarks, accessibility of cultural and natural values, public involvement into planning, and creation of these spaces and other relevant questions have the same importance.

Objective of the program

The objective of the program is to support the community living on the reconstructed, relived and renewed recreational spaces in the background of bigger towns.

The objective is to offer safe, healthy, and agreeable places for free time spending and sport for different groups of users, to create the space for meetings and social contacts, to have positive influence on the quality of urban environment by means of keeping the natural value of recreational space. The objective of the program is also to create such partnerships of municipalities and inhabitants, that in the future there will be ensured the maintainance of

the recreational background and realized other activities for the town and its inhabitants.

Financial support

The financial support for 1 project is 6,000 €.

This support can be obtained by communities with more than 25,000 inhabitants.

The projects should be realized from February to October 2012.

The deadline for  applications is February, 10, 2012.

Eligible applicants

• NGOs (C.A, foundations, non-profit organisations), which are active in local community and promote activities connected with environmental protection, protection of cultural or natural values, development of community, sport, education etc. in the partnership with the municipality)
• schools and universities, sport clubs, associations of parents, turists clubs in partnership of municipalities
• municipality of the town in the partnership of NGO
• greenery caretakers or recreational objects in partnership with NGO
• State Natural Protection in partnership with NGO

Supported activities and outputs

Each project should involve:
- communication with users of the space
- the renovation of public space in the recreational backround
- finalisation of the project - common event on renewed space

Supported acitivies

• creation and renovation of spaces for relax and sport activities, e. g. playgrounds for petang, picnic places, ping - pong tables, chessboards
• renovation and completing of small mobiliar, e. g.- fireplaces for grill, sitting, summer houses, kickstands, rubbish bins
• reconstruction or creation of places situated on the entrance to the spaces and in the places of natural meetings of people (e. g.- near springs, view points etc.)
• placement of different activities, which relive the space, n - carrilion, interactive and educational elements, artistic artefacts and instalations
• maintainance and greenery planting in woody - parks and parks, or different types of recreational spaces in the backrounds
