Tree of the Year 2010

Goal

The aim of the nationwide inquiry of the most interesting, rare, beautiful or otherwise appealing tree is to highlight the importance of trees in our lives and arouse people's interest in their environment and its protection.
Course of the inquiry in 2010:

• Nominations (April - May)
• Selection of 12 trees - finalists (May - June)
• Public voting (July - September)
• Celebratory publishing of a winner (October)

Nominations

Everybody could nominate a favourite tree by sending a filled form and photos by post or e-mail to one of the contact addresses.

Selection of finalists

From all the nominated trees, an expert jury will select 12 finalists.

Public voting

The winning tree is the tree that obtains the highest number of votes. Their photos will be published at www.ekopolis.sk/stromroka since July, 2010
From July to October, 2010, people could vote by sending a tree number by:

• SMS
• Postcard
• Directly at the web page

Celebratory publishing of a winner

Results of inquiry will be published on October, 2010. The winning tree will obtain an expert arborist review and financial contribution by 333 euros. The nominated tress on 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will obtain the financial contribution by 333 euros and the people, who nominated this trees win the books from DAJAMA editorship. 3 votings persons will obtain the books from ARTFORUM bookshop.

The winner Tree of the Year 2009 is 84 years old Popral Tree from Bratislava which obtained 596 votes.

On the 2nd place is Elm Tree from Liptovské Revúce with 594 votes and on the 3th place Lime Tree from Myjava with 591 votes.
