Amber trailContextAmber Trail is an ancient trade trail linking the Mediterranean and the Baltic Sea. Hundreds of years before the Roma Empire arose, tradesmen from different nations and cultures traveled up and down the Amber Trail to exchange goods and knowledge.Nowadays, the international program called Amber Trail Greenway links the most valuable nature and culture heritage and local development initiatives along the way Budapest - Banska Štiavnica - Krakow. The program is implemented by three independent foundations located in Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. Within the Slovak Ekopolis Foundation, the program is a specific one, because it is not focused primarily on granting, but also on the implementation of practical activities related to sustainable development of selected Slovak regions through tourism. The program offers a variety of activities - providing advice and leading our partners methodically, financial and non-financial support or providing services of travel agency along the ancient trail. The Amber Trail Greenway is a part of the Central European Greenways Program. The Goal Activism of local people and municipalities towards tourism development in their region.
