We have discovered places of good practice in water management in our region

As part of the FOR WATER competition, the Ekopolis Foundation organized another professional excursion not only for those interested in the competition, but also for everyone who wants to learn more about positive examples of measures for efficient water management. This time the excursion focused on the topic of its management in the built-up area around Banská Bystrica, Zvolen and Banská Štiavnica.

The FOR WATER competition is organized by the Ekopolis Foundation with the support of Nestlé with the aim of connecting those who are looking for solutions to current problems related to water management and people aged 18 to 30, especially students and young experts in water protection and water management, or builders . The competition also includes professional seminars and excursions to draw attention to current challenges and problems of water protection in Slovakia. The first excursion took place in July, when experts visited the Danube and its branch system.

Experts, students as well as the media had the opportunity to visit several examples of good practice in the vicinity of Banská Bystrica, Zvolen and Banská Štiavnica on 5 August during a half-day excursion. Together, up to 33 participants – students, experts, but also the media, were able to see for themselves examples of good practice in water management and adaptation to climate change. The participants saw water retention measures for rainwater in the wastewater treatment plant in Rakytovce, root wastewater treatment plants in the vicinity of Banská Štiavnica and discussed directly on the green roof at the bus station in Zvolen with its implementers.
